Mink Hide Stretcher Coat Rack

Accepting Orders

Authentic 1930's mink hide stretcher refinished and repurposed as hanging coat rack. Each stretcher is rich with character, featuring genuine wear on the wood surface from decades of mink farming. With a simple design and classic color scheme, these coat racks offer a subtle compliment to your farmhouse decor.

These coat racks are truly unique in terms of history and availability. The stretchers were originally used on The Brabazon Mink Farm in Sturgeon Bay, WI during the mid 20th century. I hand select each stretcher for it's wood character and markings. Then, I lightly sand, careful to preserve the marring. I finish with a light stain which enhances the grain and compliments the true wood color. To seal and protect from daily use, I apply two coats of polyurethane, sanding between coats. This creates a warm and rich glow that is smooth to the touch. Next, I fit the piece with four black steel double hooks. Each piece comes equipped with a hanging kit (screws, wall anchors, directions).

These pieces are made to order for you and your intended room. Length can be customized between 2.5 - 3' (standard is approximately 2 ft 8 in)
